This is a useful website because you can determine pay by employer, years of experience, job position, etc. http://www.payscale.com/mypayscale.aspx
For example here is the statistic of what JC Penny employees make. http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Employer=J.C._Penny/Hourly_Rate

The pay for a jewelry sales person usually starts around 7.00 per hour and goes up to around 15.00 per hour. This also includes commission. However once you get credentials and experience you can make upwards of 15.00 per hour as a sales person. The amount of comission you make can vary greatly based on the pay plans that different stores offer. It can also depend on the types of products oyu are selling ( are you selling designer products or non branded products). The most I have made as a sales person is around 33,000 in a year. This was with a base pay of 8 per hour. After that I went into management and have potential to make between 40k upwards of 65k based on commission and bonuses as an assistant manager. Your best bet is to start with a store like Kay, Zales or Reeds. I got my start at Kay Jewelers then moved on to sell high end brands at an independant jeweler.

You can buy designer jewelry wholesale, usually at 50-60% discount and sell it yourself in the store or online.
One famous designer that I can recommend is David Tishbi. He makes fine quality designer jewelery and sells it on his website and wholesale.
All you gotta do is to go to http://www.davidtishbi.com and fill out wholesale request. Minimum order for first wholesale deal is 12 pcs and you get the best discounted prices, then you can use the same discounted prices and order less them 12 pcs.

Anyways, I know a lot of friends, who buys from him wholesale and resells it online for at least 40-50% profit.

    Thanks, hope that helps.
