can anyone tell me how to go about untangling a jewelry chain, I am fearing it might get broken in the process.

    Chains are surprisingly strong and can be easily untangled with time and patience.

    Be sure to undo the clasp first.
    Use two pointy objects (pins, needles, tac) and slowly pull open areas of the chain away from center of knot with very slight force.
    You will notice the chain ends will maneuver through the knot.

    (also, you can take it your your nearest Jeweler and they should do it for free and within minutes)

    To untangle fine jewelry chain
    1) Determine what metal your necklace (or necklaces) are. If gold, be extremely careful because ultra-fine gold chains can break during the untangling process if you’re not careful.
    2) Place a drop of oil in your hands and gently massage into the knot. In some simpler knots, this is all that’s needed to free them.
    3) If still knotted, place onto the board and anchor one of the free ends down with a pin
